Mohawk launches new iPhone app: Mohawk ME!
January 7, 2010
New from Mohawk is Mohawk
ME!, a free downloadable iPhone application that allows users to “shop” for the
perfect mohawk hairstyle to fit their face and lifestyle.
Using the iPhone’s camera or images stored in the iPhone or iPod Touch’s
photos gallery, users can put a face into one of eight distinct mohawk styles. Their
choice will reveal not only key personality traits, but also the perfect
flooring choice to match the lifestyle of the hairdo choice. The new “Mohawk
ME!” image can be loaded onto Facebook or emailed to friends.
“We are excited to be the first flooring manufacturer to develop an iPhone
application,” said David Duncan, vice-president of marketing at Mohawk. “This
provides a fun and interactive way for the digital consumer to connect with, or
be introduced to, the Mohawk brand.”
Duncan says he’s determined to have Mohawk lead the way in reaching the “digital
generation.”
“Think about it,” he said. “There are more than 50 million people with an
iTunes store compatible device. More than 6.3 million iPhone apps are
downloaded every day, and people have downloaded more than 2 billion total
apps. Those are staggering numbers, and with our new iPhone app the Mohawk
brand can be introduced to a new, younger generation at virtually no cost.”
Following its 2009 promotion, the SmartStrand Rhino Challenge, which
featured key Internet components such as a website, Facebook, Twitter and
YouTube presence, Mohawk says the creation of an interactive iPhone application
was a “natural progression.”
“Mohawk is known for innovation in flooring,” Duncan said. “After using a
Black Rhino to prove the unmatched stain protections and durability of
SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona carpet, no one is going to be surprised that
Mohawk is the first flooring manufacturer with an iPhone application. It’s just
another compelling way to reach a new generation of consumers and tell the
Mohawk story.”
Mohawk’s
new iPhone application is now available for download from Apple iTunes.
