Roy E. Gorton, Sr.


Roy E. Gorton, Sr., 74, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2010. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University where he met Peg, his wife of 53 years.

He spent his entire career in the ceramics industry and was a life member of the American Ceramic Society. He also served as president of Aztec Tile and Mannington Tile, and as Metropolitan Industries’ senior vp of engineering, from which he retired in 2001.

Roy also served as president of the Tile Council of America from 1980 to 1982. He is survived by his wife Peg, three sons, three sisters and one granddaughter.
