Academy Sports + Outdoors, Katy, Texas; Texan Floor Service, Houston; and Dobbins Floor Covering Inc., Houston, were recently honored with the Tarkett ReUse 2009 Environmental Accomplishment Awards. The award is given to Tarkett clients who use the manufacturer’s ReUse recycling program.

“It is our hope that individual recognition with this award will not only honor our ReUse participants, but increase awareness of the need to recycle materials and further encourage the use of our ReUse Reclamation Program,” said Diane Martel, Tarkett’s vp environmental planning and strategy.

Kevin Tierney, Tarkett Houston area regional sales manager, worked closely with the award recipients to include recycling in recent project specifications. These efforts reclaimed more than 300,000 lbs. of product in the last 18 months. All of the flooring material was returned to the Houston plant and reprocessed into particles used to produce new commercial tile.
