Unilin's flooring facility in Thomasville, N.C.

The Unilin Flooring facility in Thomasville, N.C., was recently awarded the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) Award by the state's Department of Labor for the second year in a row. The award is in honor of the company's development and maintenance of strong safety programs for its workers.

“For our facility to celebrate both renewal of our SHARP award and an entire year without a lost time accident is quite an accomplishment,” said Randy Smith, vp operations, Unilin Flooring, a Mohawk Industries company. “We are very proud of the hard work all team members have put into achieving this dual-distinction.”

For companies to qualify for the SHARP Award program, injury and illness rates for the site must be below the national average for the industry, and NCDOL safety and health consultants must complete an assessment of the workplace. The 600,000 square foot facility receiving the honor is located on 72 acres. Over 200 Unilin employees work at the location.
