The winning Central DuPage Hospital project team.

Mr. David’s Flooring recently won Best Overall in the 2010 Starnet Design Awards for its work on the Pediatric Short Stay Suite at Central DuPage Hospital project in Chicago. The company also won in the Healthcare category for the project. The architect/designer on the project was RTKL Chicago/Margi Kaminski. Azrock and Mannington Commercial flooring was used.

“Mr. David’s is honored with this recognition. The Central DuPage Hospital project was a terrific project and the design developed by RTKL gave us the freedom to create a beautiful flooring installation, which works beautifully with the total environment,” said Leonard Zmijewski, Mr. David's president and owner.

Mr. David's celebrated with a special luncheon event at its headquarters in Itasca, Ill., on June 11. On hand for the event were Mr. David's executives and staff, as well as representatives from project owner Central DuPage Hospital and design and architectural firm RTKL Associates.

The winning design features flooring from Azrock and Mannington Commercial.
At the event Michael Zmijewski, Mr. David's vp, shared individual awards with all those who participated in the floor and wall covering installations at the hospital’s pediatric suite. “The project was exciting and challenging,” Zmijewski said, “and we think it was greatly deserving of the Starnet Award. Central DuPage had a wonderful design, and we are very pleased that we were able to help them bring it from concept to reality.”

Other Starnet winners included:

Vortex Commercial Flooring, for Pfingsten Partners in Chicago (small corporate); Consolidated Carpet, for Coty Beauty Lancaster Group at the Empire State Building (large corporate); New England Floor Covering, for Proctor Hall at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt. (education); Re Source New Jersey, for New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (hospitality); Floors and More, for Harps Food in Benton, Ark. (public space); Universal Flooring, for Pretend City at the Children's Museum of Orange County in Irvine, Calif. (unique installation challenge); and Starnet Worldwide Commercial Flooring Partnership, designer Jamie Matthews, Virginia Tech School of Architecture and Design, for Doctors Without Borders in Washington, D.C. (student achievement).
