In
comparison to other products on the market, the life cycle cost of rubber
flooring works out only paying for it twice in it’s lifetime in a 15 year study
versus paying up to 8 and 17 times the initial cost of the other floors
definitely speaks for itself. It is
always nice to look at the lower end products when budget becomes a problem,
especially with flooring since it’s the last thing to go in the building. However, the flooring will take more abuse
than most any other interior going into the building. The longevity of the floors in most buildings is very important due
to not being able to close down sections of the buildings to replace the
floors.
When looking at rubber flooring, the environmental impact is
also very important. Rubber flooring
contains no PVC’s and will not emit vinyl chloride, plasticizers, asbestos, or
CFC’s. Air quality is a major concern
and may be affected by emissions from the flooring material itself or the
adhesives used to install the flooring, as well as the coatings and maintenance
materials required to maintain the flooring.
The low-maintenance nature of rubber flooring helps specifiers minimize
these environmental concerns.
In 2008, Flexco introduced Distinct Designs Rubber Tile and
Treads color palette. This was very important to the design community as a
whole – no longer would a designer be limited to specific colors due to budget
restraints when considering Flexco products. Before this change, we only
offered certain tiles and tread textures in specific colors and this opened up
all treads and tile to all color groups with FlexOne pricing across the board.
This has been significant in getting job specifications, since the product line
is easier to understand and offers a color palette of 77 colors.
We also introduced Prime Sports Flooring, which is a highly
functional and affordable rubber recreational flooring. Prime Sports Floor is well-conditioned to
take on a rigorous workout or provide added walking comfort and slip resistance
for commercial, residential, industrial and fitness applications.
