Karastan won two awards during this year's America's Magnificent Carpets Awards held earlier this month at the Atlanta Rug Market. Netting its 12th America's Magnificent Carpets award overall, Karastan was honored in the Power-Loomed $1,000+ and Power-Loomed $400-$1,000 retail categories. Specifically, the company was honored for its Eastport rug in the Original Karastan Collection as well as French Quarter in Bluestone from the Sierra Mar Collection.

Retailers and manufacturers chat before the presentation of the America's Magnificent Carpets Awards.
“Our design, development and manufacturing team has once again produced outstanding results,” said Anne Carley, Karastan's director of marketing.

“Most significant is the artistic use of color in both rugs. The meticulously placement of multiple hues gives textural depth to the intense, Prussian blue field of Eastport. A mélange of colors also creates the striated underlay of French Quarter, which is topped with an ornamental design inspired by the hand-forged ironworks of New Orleans,” she noted.

Other power-loomed category winners included: Marcella Fine Rugs ($0-$200) and Couristan ($200-$400). Nalbandian was honored in the Contemporary category. Additionally, Nourison, Loloi, Marcella Fine Rugs and Surya were honored with Visual Display Awards for their showroom design and merchandising.

The annual America's Magnificent Carpets event is sponsored by Architectural Digest magazine and hosted by both Architectural Digest and AmericasMart Atlanta. Judges representing designers, retailers and museum curators chose the winning rugs in various categories based on quality of construction, value, design and salability.
